Meet Wildcat Athletics Mr. & Miss Wildcat 2017!
There are countless “measurables” we use in giving awards in athletics (ie PPG, YPC, OBP, QBR…). None of those are considered when the WCS coaching staff selected Lyanne Valasquez and Will Symonds as the athletes that best personify what it means to be a Wildcat. What was considered was their character, sportsmanship, work ethic, and how they represent WCS athletics and Jesus Christ in practice, play, the classroom, home and in the community. Their servant-leadership will be missed next year, but they have made an impact on the returning Wildcats that will build on a legacy of being CHAMPIONS from the “inside-out.”
Lyanne plays volleyball and competes in Track & Field. She was a student manager for both the football and basketball teams and is active in numerous campus organizations. She loves Jesus and makes his presence real and inviting to those she comes in contact with. She will go on to Texas Women’s University to pursue her love for serving others in a health care career.
Will plays football, soccer & baseball, acts, writes, serves and is seems to be everywhere at WCS. Will’s love for Jesus & WCS is evident and contagious. He has worked hard to lay a foundation of character and sportsmanship in our programs o which we can build our programs. He will go on to continue his love of academics, leadership & football at Trinity University.
